Abstract: This review presents Evdokia Borisova’s book The Melodrama in TV series (Plovdiv, 2013) as a bold attempt to enter the territories of the despised "menial" genre of melodrama and even more – the extremely unpopular from the point of view of the pretentious high culture and theory the genre of TV series. In line with not particularly numerous researchers before her: Ingeborg Bratoeva-Darakchieva, Vera Naydenova, Aglika Stefanova, Vanya Zhekova, etc. Evdokia Borisova explains the curious phenomenon of modeling and watching television series. She carries it out armed with literary theory (dramaturgy, narratology) and theories of theater and cinema practice. The review causes aesthetic skepticism in literature, film and media and admires this book as a courageous theoretical, receptive, cultural, multicultural and feminist attempt to read the TV series’ melodrama.
