Abstract: This article deals with the importance of the military campaign in Thrace undertook by Alexander the Great in 335 BC. The study focuses on this campaign and the achieved results by the Macedonian king, although there was no desicive military victory. It seems that despite this, the military campaign had an impact on both sides: on the one hand, there were regular recruitments of allies in the Macedonian army, loyal to Alexander the Great and on the other hand, the preservation of Macedonian economic sphere of influence in Thrace that was established by Philip II of Macedon and the inclusion of the allied Thracian lands into the Hellenistic world with all cultural and political consequences. All this is discussed in detail. Keywords: Alexander the Great, Thrace, Philip II of Macedon, strategic goals, Hellenistic world, military campaign, Macedonian economics.
