============================= Abstract: In the course of the Roman expansion and the Romanization of the conquered territories, significant financial resources were accumulated by the upper class, which raised the standard of life and its aesthetic requirements. The mosaics are one of the means that manages to satisfy these emerging needs. Аs the capital of the province, the city of Marcianopolis is not left out of the ongoing processes. Within its fortified area and outside the fortress walls, several large houses were discovered, the floors of which were decorated with splendid mosaics. Тhe so-called House of Antiope is one of these luxurious mansions. Тhe late antique mosaics found there are some of the best examples of the Roman mosaic art.
